AI in Your Toolkit Workshop and Discussion Series

The evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) in the 21st century is not just a technological shift, but a societal one. It requires us to challenge what intelligence means, how we work and learn, and to consider the impacts of integrating these tools into our professional lives.

Experts from across the UCSF Library have come together to offer a virtual series designed to help UCSF faculty, staff, postdocs, and learners critically examine the role of AI in their work. The six-part series alternates between hands-on workshops (90 minutes) and thought-provoking discussions (60 minutes) that delve into the ethical dimensions of AI technology.

Topics include the environmental impact of AI, assessing bias in AI systems, and using AI for tasks like information synthesis, learning, and editing documents. Participants will practice hands-on skills and evaluate the appropriateness of AI tools for their work. By cutting through the hype, this series aims to help the UCSF community understand AI’s capabilities and risks, so they can make informed decisions about how best to integrate this technology into their professional toolkit.

Schedule

The discussions and hands-on workshops alternate and occur on the second Wednesday of the month and will be held via Zoom.
