Student Study Spaces

Quiet study only

All library and classroom facilities are only open for quiet study space. All services remain available remotely.

Daily pass and ID badge required

Study space is available to students who are planning to be on campus for an essential educational activity.

  • Register for a pass for a specific study space at least 1 day in advance
  • 1 pass per student, per day (allows for 10 hours of access into specific building/classroom).
  • Up to 3 daily passes per week to allow for equitable access across student population.
  • All spaces are accessible via ID badge swipe only.
  • Study spaces are for individual use only — no group study is allowed.
You must have your student ID badge, your daily screening certificate, and your daily pass booking confirmation with you at all times when using a library or classroom study space. Security and environmental health staff will be checking screening certificates and ensuring safety measures are being followed. Those not wearing masks, practicing social distancing, etc. will be reported to their respective education dean. Violations will not only result in consequences for individuals, but study spaces may be closed to all students if there is overwhelming neglect of on-site protocol.

Study Space Guidelines

To ensure compliance with UCSF Campus Access & Protocols and government orders, guidelines, and recommendations with regards to physical distancing, please follow directions of the security guards and signage posted throughout library and classroom spaces and be mindful of your surroundings.
  • Use the hand sanitizer stations provided throughout high traffic areas and wash your hands frequently.
  • Wear a face covering or mask at all times.
  • Follow seating restrictions and only sit where chairs are available.
  • When finished studying, wipe down the table, chair, and all high touch surfaces (as applicable) with cleaning wipes available nearby. Discard the wipes in the nearest receptacle.
  • Any library materials borrowed should be deposited in the book return to be properly handled before being returned to the circulating collection.
  • Eating and drinking in study spaces is not allowed.
