In October, the library invited UCSF faculty and academics to provide feedback on proposed journal and database cancellations for the 2026 calendar year. We sincerely thank everyone who shared their invaluable input. The 2026 resource review process has concluded, and based on this feedback, the library was able to renew subscriptions for the resources that received the strongest support.
System-wide cancellations
Beyond campus-level subscriptions, UCSF partners with the University of California (UC) Libraries to provide access to a wide range of system-wide resource packages and databases. This consortium model enables the UC Libraries to secure favorable pricing and licensing while expanding access across campuses.
For the 2025–2026 fiscal year, budgetary constraints necessitated the UC Libraries to identify system-wide subscriptions for cancellation. Resources with low usage, high cost per use, or limited full-text availability were prioritized for discontinuation. As a graduate-level health sciences institution, UCSF contributes financially to consortial resources that align with our mission. As a result, the number of system-wide cancellations affecting UCSF is minimal.
List of cancellations
The final list of 2026 cancellations, including UCSF campus-level and relevant system-wide resources, is available (MyAccess credentials are required for access).
