Non-UCSF patrons
Courtesy accounts are available to
- University of California faculty, students, and staff … including retired employees and emeriti
- Faculty and librarians from accredited institutions of higher learning in California
- Health professionals licensed by a California state professional or vocational board, including retired individuals, living in the nine Bay Area counties
- Current members of UC alumni associations.
- Immediate family, over the age of 18, of faculty and staff of the University of California
- Certificate employees of California public schools
- Stanford University faculty, academic staff, and currently enrolled graduate students
Borrowing privileges limited to:
- Other UC personnel and student card holders may borrow up to 10 circulating items at a time
- Other courtesy cardholders may borrow up to 5 circulating items at a time
To apply for a courtesy, non-UCSF borrower account
- Qualified patrons should bring appropriate ID to the Service Desk at Parnassus

Fee-based accounts are available to Library Associates
Library Associates can
- Borrow up to 5 circulating items at a time
- Access the online ProQuest Research Library including select full-text journals (off-campus only)
- Attend special library events
- Use the Library’s public computer terminals beyond the usual 2-hour limit
Eligibility and costs
- U.S. residents 18 years or older with a valid California ID: $100.00/year
- Registered degree program students of California State University or Community College Systems: $20.00/6 months, $40.00/year
