Demand Change to Racist PubMed Terminology

PubMed Logo

The Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG) Library is sharing a growing call to action for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Library of Medicine (NLM). We demand changes to existing PubMed terms that are outdated, discriminatory, and include offensive terminology (e.g., “Blacks,” created in 2022) and a commitment from NIH to financially support people, healthcare professionals, researchers, and library workers who identify as BIPOC to improve these processes. If you support this cause, please sign the letter by Tuesday, May 31, 2022, or contact nora.franco@ucsf.edu or jill.barr-walker@ucsf.edu for more information.
