We are excited to announce that we have added a new piece of equipment to the Makers Lab! Carvey is a 3D carving machine, also known as a CNC router, that uses a subtractive process to create 3D sculptures and anything you can imagine. Below are two examples of projects created on the Carvey.
Some mediums that Carvey can work with are:
- Machinable Circuit Board Blanks
- Delrin (thermoplastic)
- Expanded PVC (foam sheet)
- Machinable Foam
- Machinable Wax
- ABS (thermoplastic)
- HDPE (high density thermoplastic)
- Hard and Soft woods
- Corian (solid surface countertop material)
Carvey works with Easel software, which is web based and cross platform. You can create an account and start designing for free at http://easel.inventables.com/. See more Carvey resources and the safety manual.
