Applications Open for Spring 2026 Archives Internships

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Archives and Special Collections invites applications from motivated, detail oriented and inquisitive candidates for two hands-on internships in archival accessioning and processing for the Spring 2026 term.

Interns will work on-site at the UCSF Kalmanovitz Library for 20 hours per week, Monday–Friday. These are unpaid opportunities, but may qualify for academic credit with approval from your institution.

What you will gain

The interns will work closely with the Archives and Special Collections team to process and catalogue archival collections or physically assess and arrange materials. The interns will also gain experience in standard archival practices, working with the collection management software ArchivesSpace, and daily operations of a health sciences university library’s archives and special collections.

This is a valuable learning experience for students pursuing careers in archives, libraries or cultural heritage institutions.

Who should apply

  • Current Master’s-level students in library science, records management or administration, museum studies, or a related field
  • Individuals with knowledge of archival standards and best practices for arrangement and description, appraisal, preservation, and metadata
