Alumni accounts
Eligibility
Members of the UCSF Alumni Association, and members of other UC alumni associations are eligible for free borrowing accounts.

- To apply for a free borrower account, bring photo ID and Alumni ID card to the Service Desk at the Parnassus library

- While visiting in person, all users may access the main floor of the library which includes Caffé Central, open study/work areas, and workstations to access online articles and databases
- Materials located in the library’s circulating collection may be requested online via Borrower account or at the Library Services Desk with items retrieved on an hourly basis on the hour
- Borrowing limited to 5 circulating items at a time
- ProQuest Research Library, a multidisciplinary mix of scholarly, professional, and consumer periodicals that cover over 150 subjects, is available remotely
- Due to licensing restrictions, no other resources are available remotely

Available for a fee to California residents not affiliated with UCSF.

- Student of California State University or community college systems, bring photo ID and CSU or community college ID card to the Service Desk at the Parnassus library

- U.S. residents 18 years or older with a valid California ID: $100/year
- Registered degree program students of California State University or community college systems: $20 for six months or $40/year

Courtesy accounts
Eligibility
The following groups are eligible for free borrowing accounts:
- Current University of California (UC) faculty, students, and staff, as well as retired employees and emeriti
- Current faculty and librarians from accredited institutions of higher learning in California
- Health professionals with a current license issued by a California state professional or vocational board and living in the nine Bay Area counties (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma)
- Immediate family, over the age of 18, of current faculty and staff of the University of California
- Certificate employees of California public schools
- Current Stanford University faculty, academic staff, and currently enrolled graduate students

- Qualified patrons should bring photo ID (work or school ID or current driver’s license)
