Mission Bay Library Extends Hours for UCSF Students
Beginning Monday, March 5, the Mission Bay FAMRI Library will be open until midnight on Mondays through Thursdays. Admission to the library after 9:00 pm will be for UCSF students, postdoctoral fellows, and residents only, via the computer lab entrance immediately to the left of the main library doors.
From 9:00 pm until midnight, no library staff will be present, but a UCSF police department security guard will be on site to ensure a safe environment.

Over 2,000 Elsevier Ebooks Now Available
The UCSF community now has online access to over 2,000 Elsevier ebooks, thanks to the Library’s recent purchase of ebooks published on the ScienceDirect platform. Elsevier’s imprints include Academic Press, Churchill-Livingstone, Elsevier, Mosby, and Saunders. The purchase is comprised of:

Music in the Library: Avi Vinocur
At 23 years old, Avi Vinocur’s folk music bleeds the love of classic novels and poetry that so enthrall the mind of this San Francisco based singer-songwriter. His songs draw comparisons to a young Bob Dylan or Paul Simon, maintaining elegant melodies with lyrics that stand alone as poems.
Avi spent 3 years as a member of The Stone Foxes and currently performs as a member of Goodnight, Texas. Avi plays guitar, mandolin, banjo, and a Kurzweil Keytar.

IPHE Grant Applications Due April 16
Applications for the Instructional Grants Program, 2012-2013, are now being accepted. Funds are available to support instructional improvement projects focused on interprofessional health education, to be initiated during the 2012-2013 academic year. This grant program is funded by UCSF's new Center for Excellence in Interprofessional Health Education and the Library.

Melvyl Adds New Journal Articles
Melvyl, the discovery tool of the UC libraries, has recently been enriched with several million new journal articles and other documents from a wide range of databases. This is especially helpful for broad, multidisciplinary topics. Once you find a relevant database for your topic, you can then search that specific database via the library’s website. Relevant databases to the UCSF community include:
- BioMed Central
- BioOne
- ERIC
- History of Science, Technology & Medicine
- MEDLINE
