UCSF to Receive $6.9 Million for Tobacco Documents Collection

The three largest tobacco companies in the U.S. have agreed to pay $6.9 million for UCSF's Legacy Tobacco Documents Library, an online collection of internal tobacco company documents first launched in 2002.

Library Holiday Hours and Closures
Happy Holidays from the UCSF Library! Please take note of our reduced winter hours and closures over the next few weeks.
December 23: The libraries at Parnassus and Mission Bay will close early. See details.
December 24 - January 2: All locations will be closed. The Hearst Reading Room will still be accessible to UCSF students for 24/7 study.

RefWorks Classic Interface Going Away
In 2011, RefWorks introduced its new user-friendly RefWorks 2.0 interface. The previous interface, named “Classic,” has continued to be available to users. Users who still use the Classic interface should be aware that it will no longer be available after December 31, 2011.

Try Red Book Online by December 23
Red Book, the popular drug pricing resource, is available online for a brief trial period. Responding to requests from UCSF faculty, the Library has activated a trial through December 23. We are negotiating with the publisher for a possible subscription.
Red Book contains information on more than 200,000 prescription and over-the-counter medications, nutraceuticals, and bulk chemicals, as well as some medical devices and supplies.

Mobilized: New Blog Offers Tips for Mobile Life and Work
The UCSF Library has launched a new blog, Mobilized, which delivers tips, reviews, and commentary on mobile apps and devices in higher education and the health sciences.
The authors of Mobilized are from various walks of life at UCSF. The blog strives to offer a variety of useful information and perspectives on making the most of mobile apps and devices.
