The Library has launched a new gateway to UCSF Digital Collections, containing rare and historic materials from our Archives & Special Collections department.

Research Protocols Available Online
The Library now provides access to SpringerProtocols, a database of peer-reviewed laboratory research protocols in the life and biomedical sciences. SpringerProtocols covers 15 subject collections--such as molecular medicine, biological science, and biotechnology--and contains over 600 titles from 1980-2011, including:

Faculty Respond to Library Budget Letter
On July 1, the Committee on Library and Scholarly Communication and the University Librarian distributed a letter to the campus community quantifying the effects of the ongoing budget cuts on the Library.
Faculty were asked to send comments and suggestions about the effect of the cuts on their work. To date, nearly 30 faculty have responded.

Multimedia Ebooks: Colloquium Digital Library of Life Sciences
The UCSF Library now has access to the Colloquium Digital Library of Life Sciences: Collection One, a collection of over 50 lectures covering five series: Integrated Systems Physiology, Developmental Biology, Cell Biology of Medicine, the Developing Brain, and Biotechnology. Each lecture, 50-100 pages long and written by a prominent scholar in the field, synthesizes an important research or development topic in the life sciences.

MICROMEDEX 2.0: New Interface for Web and Mobile Devices
MICROMEDEX 2.0 offers both web and mobile access to MICROMEDEX drug information through a new user interface with a single search box, providing a streamlined view of the many tools within MICROMEDEX.

SciFinder Scholar: Client Users Must Switch to SciFinder Web
As of June 30, 2011, Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) ceased to support the client version of SciFinder. The only way for UCSF users to access SciFinder is through the web version.
