What's New at the Library
January 26, 2007
New Bioinformatics Services
The UCSF Library is launching new services and resources to support the use of biological databases and tools. A Bioinformatics Specialist, located at Mission Bay, is now available to support the research community of UCSF.

With the exponential increase in the generation of biological information, the biological and medical community's need for tools and databases to effectively use and manage this information continues to grow accordingly.

New library services will include additional classes on the use of public databases, software, and open source bioinformatics programming; guest lectures and tutorials presented by the National Center for Biotechnology Information and European Bioinformatics Institute; and consulting services relating to biological information, such as format conversion, report processing, data manipulation, sequence analyses and batch processing.

Contact Gilberto Afonso, Bioinformatics Specialist, (415) 514-4063, to learn more or tell us about your needs and interests. Keep an eye out for future notices about bioinformatics services and events.
