1. Porous plugwrap. The Schweitzer 26C.141 has a
porositj of approximately
25,000 CU and thereforu It does not rest-rict the
flow of a1z in tip
ventilated cigarettes. Thus any variability in the
measured
ventilation is going to be the result of the
variability in the
tipping perforation. If a less porous ~luqwxp is
used Which V%an
plays a part in the ventilation, the overall
variability (a of Y)
will increase an the overall ventilation

two com ined effects.
The ar7unent is equal for both macro and micro
perforated tipping
althoWh we would add It-hat laser perforated

It follows fror these considerations that one can
balance perforation
with pluqwrap porosity in order to maintain some
level of dilution
but I would prefer not to see this balance in the
sense that the
Schweitzer material overlaid by a laser perforated

cigarette ventilation to be reasonably consistent.
GMDC's current activities an reduced sideitream
