Also for Mr. Dennis to let you have a review of action which had been taken to maintain moral* and management stsodards in other industries which were in decline at under public attack. 2. It was agreed that the Zpidmialogical Compendium should be published internally and that outside reactions should be sought and reported on by recipients as a preliminary to deciding how it night be used more widely, possibly matting up a scientific conference to discuss selected topics. 3. It was also agreed that the Group should be prepared to take a more positive stance on passive making and that Mr. Bruell should make specific recom*ndations as to how this should be done. 4. In Financial Services, there was renewed commitment with Life Insurance/Investment Services " the first aim but Credit Services such as Mortgages/Consuser Credit ware a complementary development which should be progressed. 5. Immediate issues In Retailing were the analysis ad pruning of some LUTS retail operations and Horton. The Redding productivity study had been successfully completed and should now be Implemented by line management. 6. In Pulp and Paper. the main emphasis was still on Carbouless which was seen as having good prospects for growth, continuing into the 1990S. Opportunities for participating in Pulp and integrated Pulp and Paper investments should continue to be evaluated, concentrating on Southern countries. 7. There should be continuing pressure to look for ways to increase investment in the Pacific Basin and Trance/Southern Europe. S.
