In September 1985, Imasco Limited ('Imasco') was granted its deemed Canadian status
pursuant to the Investment Canada Act (the 'Act) which was subsequently renewed in
September 1987 and again in August 1989. The Act requires Imasco to renew its status
every two years. Imasco is now in the process of reapplying for its deemed Canadian
status.
Imasco desires to clarify the beneficial ownership of its common shams held in the various
nominee accounts by your company at the close of business on May 31, 1991. To this
end, we would ask you to identify the following:
A. 71it total number of common shares held in the various nominee accounts
of your company at the close of business on May 31, 1991; and
B. What percentage of the common shares so held are beneficially owned by
non-Canadians.
Please note that we are not seeking and do not need to know the actual names or
identities of the beneficial owners of the Imasco shares registered in the nominee accounts.
For your assistance, we are attaching as Schedule A the classifications used for "Canadians'
and "Non-Canadians' pursuant to the Act.
We would appreciate receiving your response at your earliest convenience but, in my
cmut, not later than July 1Z 199L A stamped self-addressed envelope is enclosed for the
return of one copy of the attached report(s). IMe other copy of the report(s) is intended
