RE: Imasco Limited Nominee Accounts
Imasco Limited ("Imasco") is presently deemed to be Canadian for the purpose of making most
acquisitions under the Investment Canada Act (the "Act"). To maintain this favorable status,
Imasco must reapply to Investment Canada every two years and establish. among other facts,
that a majority of its voting shares am owned by Canadians. Imasco is now in the process of
preparing such a renewal application and seeks your help in order to do so.
Would you therefore be kind enough to complete the enclosed report regarding Imasco
common shares held in various nominee accounts by your company at the close of business on
June 18, 1993. This report will help us determine how many of such shams are beneficially
owned by Non-Canadians.
For your assistance, we have enclosed as Schedule A a summary of the definitions of
'Canadians' and "Non-Canadians' under the Act. Please note that we do not require the actual
names of beneficial owners.
We would appreciate receiving your response at your earliest convenience but, in any event, not
later than Friday, July 9, 1993. Please either mail a copy of the report using the stamped self-
addressed envelope enclosed herewith or send it by telecopier to Montreal Trust Company,
