Mr. Gaetan Levert, an instrument technologist in my group, will be
spending the week of March 10 with Fi I trona at Alperton to learn how to
maintain and repair the various Fi I trona quality control instruments which
are used in our factories and laboratory. if it is possible we would also
like him to visit GR & DC where. we believe, he could profitably spend a
week mostly with Arnold Cronshaw's group. He is particularly interested in
the design and operation of dilution measuring equipment, including the
Hauni on-line equipment, paper porosity testers etc. In addition you presently
have in Southampton our new firmness profile integrator and as it incorporates
new components he would like to learn from your people how to maintain this
equipment.
I telephoned Arnold Cronshaw Wednesday to see what dates might be
convenient and to detemi ne the length of stay necessary. It was agreed
that Gaetan should plan to spend the week of March 17 in GR & DC, but would
leave earlier if the entire week should not be required. There is the
possibility that he may need to go to Hauni in Hamburg but this decision will
depend on the progress Hauni makes during the next few weeks in installing
equipment including their on-line dilution gauge on one of your makers in
GR & DC. Incidentally Arnold knows Gaetan from his visits to Montreal.
If this proposed visit to Southampton is acceptable to you, could you
please arrange hotel accommodation in Southampton for Gaetan for the nights
of March 16 (late arrival) to March 20 inclusive and in London (at a modest
rate if such is available) for the night of March 21. He plans to return to
Montreal March 22.
I hope that we shall have the opportunity of meeting in the not too
distant future.
