(i) Mie two new smoking issues dccLmg=s referred to at the last
meeting ham now been printed. TW are: "Smoking: The
Scientific Cm7troversy", a layperson's rev:iAw of issues relating
to active smoking, and "Smoking: Habit or Addiction", a
r=t-technical review of issues relating to claim that smoking is
addictive. Both docLmmts have been circulated to BLT<b
operating cmipames, to other tobacco comes and to all staff
at Millbank.
(ii) llsmokuq Issues Claim and Respcnses" has also been circulated to
the above. Miis document provides; responses to clai- that are
frequently made about smaking or the tobacco inxiistry. It is in
the form of a loose-leaf binder so that updates can be made, and
now claim added in, from time--to-tim. The document is for
intexnal industry use only.
