attentim was drawn to the fact that tebacco -Brd- contains chemicals that are
also present in e.g. paift strippers, rocket fuel, mothballs ate. Om%mrn was
also expressed about %tat was being added to tobacco smoles in the form of
additives during processing and pesticide residues. An a result of this
activity, the Minister of Health bas written a letter to tcbu= companies
xUriestim disclosure of a&Utives (nams, use and amount) and agricultural
e4micals. The industry is seeking a meeting with the Minister to impress
upon h= the con"identuLUty of this information and to reassure h= about the
indIustry's use of additives in the Australian market.
