The Ompendium of Epidemiogical, stu@es is currently beirg Updated, the
last rwisim having taken place at the end of 1988. A 1 imit-ed m7nbex of
now papers on subjects such as anotalies will be incorporated but there
will be tm Major revisions:-
(a) Virus's and cancer
Miere is increasing evidence that virus's play an ix4mrtant, if not
daminant, role in the develop of certain cancers for some of which
smaking has been claired to be imolved. Papers in the area will
therefore be reviewed in the new compard-ium.
(b) Genetic susceptibility to diseases
With the introduction of new =rxitoring techniques -in Molecular
biology the m=ber of diseases which are knmm to develop
predominantly in genetically susceptible pacple has increased. Most
remytly it has been mxjgestad that certain genatic factors predispose
to lung cancer and this ar- will also be reviewed -in the rxw
C=pendium-
