DR. S. J. GREEN$ F. 11ASLAM MILLBANK. FH/VC/38 10th April 1975 MERANO CONFERENCE There were a number of points which we discussed at the closing meeting in Merano which were not covered in the draft notes which I prepared. May I list them as an aide memoire. 41. We concluded that visits to conferences should be encouraged. 42. Dr. Green agreed to look into the possibility of drafting a note on "co-operation". 43. Dr. Green will look into the possibility of arranging a wider circulation of market research data. 44. Coresta - It was agreed that Germany should not withdraw from Coresta and that Dr. Felton should continue to represent Switzerland. The Group were concerned at the way in which Philip Morris were using Coresta as a P.R. vehicle. 45. Considerable interest was shown In the B.& W. development in which small particles of tobacco are separated from the blend before cutting and re-incorporated prior to cigarette manufacture. This is reported to give an attractive product with some of the filling power characteristics of shattered tobacco cigarettes, and improved ends. 46. In discussion of smoking and health guide lines, the procedure for the transmission of research data to Government and medical authorities was thought to require clarification at the forthcoming Chewton Glen meeting.
