agrochemicals: 01 and 06 through the development of resistarA varieties, 03 by
biological control, and 04 through the use of more efficient techniques fbr pest

Projects 01 and 06 also aim at developing new tobacco vaiietics; with how productivity
and quality, the former by using genetic aWineering twJWques and the latter@
conventional aoss-breeft techniques.
Projea 02 seeks generation of basic knovAodge to enable development of tobacco
varieties with desirable characteristics by associning DNA markets with conventional
binding-
Pmjm 05 aims at maximizinS traditional cultural practices to improve quality, reduce
wsK and preserve natural resources.
