SELECTION QF PROJECTS AND MCI=
in view of the unique position of Imperial Tobacco Canada in terms of its
accountability to its other shareholders and to its tax authorities, It is
proposed that the following process in Instituted:
1. The principal topic* for the Group Funded Fundamental Research
Programs are agreed with all CRC companies Initially at TSRT level
but with full awareness of R&D directors.
2. The projects which are supported by Canada are identified. Only these
will be funded by Canada and only these will require the agreement of
Canada when detailed.
3. All other projects will require concensus between the other CAC
companies.
4. Subject to a satisfactory funding formula being established (possibly
based on a 'club membership, c -1 nent plus a 'volume of sales'
component) Canada are agreeable to maintaining a financial
contribution to the Group Programme (but linked only to their
projects) equivalent to that contributed in 1990.
5. The results of jLU Group funded research projects will be equally
available to A" CAC companies.
