             of chemicals,

          (23 B&U have let exPerienced difficulties in obtaining the reouired
            concentration of DEC in triacetin,


          In view of the above points, the project will explore the effects of
          OEC on a key '':ddlP East product (PG1) in terms of smoke deliveries and
          sensory effect;. Three stages are proposed:

          Stage I: Nanoiactute filters with zero and 2", DEC. Filters to be
              attached to existing PGL tobacco sections (Clanuell~J and
              smo;cf~ to confirm the effect of OEC, Sufficient filters
              will be produced to cover Staae 2,

          Stage 2: #asa'~ctu~e three products on Mk,9 as follows:

               (ai ;ur~ent PGL (130CR/iOmn WG~ ventilation);
               (b) Current PGI with OfC filters;

               lie,

    to be completed by 7th August 1907,


Stage 2: #anuflrturo of 3 samples (2000 each) and laboratory analysis~
    Curren; estimate for manufacture is early September 1997 with
    campic:ior by 30th September 1987,


Stage 3: Sensory evaluation by nuo·frlo and OMEB I (if necessary) will
    be 3 weeks from availability of samples at required dellveries~
    Target conoletion date is 23rd October 19R7,
