          At the New York meeting in January, the need to cc-ordinate
        patent activities both in relation to Reynolds' activities and in
        terms of our own filings was clearly identified, I have asked Ren
        E(acloan from SouthaPpton to perform this [uneeion~

          On the quastlon of monitoring Beynolds' activities, I enclose
        two patent specifications from Reynolds which have recently come
        into our hands~ The~ look to be refinements on the principles
        already disclosed on their smokeless clgatalte~

          you should also know that he is preparing a review of Irfot
        art in the broad areas relating to Airbus and Creendot and I hope
        this will be despatched re you within the neXt few weeks. I also
        hope to clarify how we wish to cc-ordinate patent filings in this
        general area very shortly~
