Included in the licencing agreement was BAT's access to a number of Lorillard's brand names and patents, including "TRUE". However the arrangements precluded the transfer of technical expertise between the companies. As an adjunct to a proposal to project "TRUE" as an international brand, GR&DC were asked by the Millbank Product Development Committee to provide technological support for the activity, particularly in respect of the construction of the "TRUE" filter. The "TRUE" filter is a dual-filter, the mouthpiece of which is constructed from polyethylene incorporating a unique and readily indentifiable motif.
