18 Auqust 1980 Note for: P J N Roberts, Fsq TRANSFER OF PRODUCT DEVELOPMFNT TO GR & DC Thank you for your memo of 6 August 1980 I think we have somehow got our wires slightly crossed. When we agreed that GR & DC would undertake responsibility for U K & E's Product Development, I did not have in mind that it would be at zero cost. As I understand it, U K & E have disbanded the Product Development Group, the cost of which was far in excess of 923000 incurred by Jenkins as an individual. we could not of course absorb Jenkins and undertake work without ctarqe - unless the 3 A T Board decided otherwise. The cbarce of 140000 for Jenkins at GR & DC would be more than blis cost were he to stay at Wokina - but on the other hand, you have the saving of the entire Croup. We have to have a procedure that is defensible viz a viz cur relations with other Associates - and in particular witb the five major C A C countries. We have of course also picked up the entire cost of Solomon and Irwin. Clearly we must discuss the matterl L C F BLACKMAN C7-- 11 C CC cc CC BATCO document for Province of British Columbia 10 November 1999
