DR. S.n. EVELYN SHE/PSB/46D-10 2 nd August, 1984 C 0 R E S T A : 1 3 0 Although, unlike ISO, CORESTA does not decide on inter- national standards, sub-groups work on specific technical problems which can subsequently form the basis of standards put forward to ISO for consideration and formal adoption. Following the attack directed against Barclay (i) at the CORESTA meeting last year and (ii) in the Swiss National Standards Organisation earlier this year, it is planned to hold a pre-CORESTA meeting of key representatives from ISO countries in Europe in September since: (a) some of the ISO representatives will mlso be attending the CORESTA Congress, (b) it is vital to consider a number of strategies in relation to the ISO meetihg to be held in Paris in Spring 1985. This timing should provide a reasonable period in which to undertake any necessary further development of proposals and/or alternative strategies. Key topics for discussion will include the following. (1) Consideration and development of a strategy in relation to the Kamm/Fine cigarett,.. holder. co ---I X:1 N-) BATCo document for Province of British Columbia 10 November 1999 -2- (2) Consideration of the recent events and problems in South Africa in relation to the Bureau of Standards and how these might effect our strategy. (3) In view of the continuing, and possibly much wider attacks which may follow events in different countries, it will be vital to try and ensure that the Block vote of the Comecon Eastern Block will be used Jn our favour.
