7-2_c~ 19 December 1980 Sent to: GIBB RITTERSHAUS SIQUEIRA NICHOLLS SANFORD As I intimated at Sea Island, I believe that the smoking and health issue is going to have an increasing, rather than decreasing, influence on all our lives in the future. Public Affairs are extremely active in the area, and they look to myself and R&D staff for technical in-put. Geoff Felton is, of course, the formal link between R&D and your own Company. At the present time, this link manifests itself mainly in the form of the regular letters and photo-copied attachments. There have, from time to time, been comments that more detailed interpretation of the key areas would be more helpful than the rather thin commentary on a large number of issues, publications, reports, tv programmes, etc - which by the nature of things, tend to be primarily associated with the U K. The object of this letter is to ask if you would care to comment on the way Geoff currently fulfills his role and if appropriate, to indicate how a modified activity would be of more value to you. Please be very open in your reply; we want to make the very best use of the expertise we have available to us. With kind regards Yours sincerely L C F BLACKMAN \0 (DO BATCo document for Province of BritiSh Columbia 4 November 1999
