INKS Until recently the view had been taken that the quart:-,:es of cigarette die inks used were so small as to obviate the need -,--r their review except for a p~.,rchasino requirement of conformity to SFPlM standards. Whilst the of use is still recognised as being iow, it is now considered nEzessary to assess these inks and a--- such formal disclosures are now requested from suppliers. During the yeB., assessment of disclosures increased a,.vareness of the composition of inks and their status in key legislation. This process was instrume-,tal in developing an assessment procedure used to determine tl~= acceptaoility cf~ a new ink.
