Hearst Reading Room

Hearst Reading Room

UCSF only

The Hearst Reading Room contains several lighted study carrels and tables, group study rooms, and restrooms for use when the Library is closed. In addition, the UCSF Police Department maintains a small substation inside the Hearst Room, which enhances security after-hours.

Location: The Hearst Room is located on the 3rd (main) floor of the Parnassus Campus Library.

Access: The Hearst Room is accessible to students 24/7. During regular library hours, students may access the Room via the main doors to the Library. At all other times, students may use the secure entrance (to the left of the main entrance as you face the building) and go directly into The Hearst Reading Room. Access during non-library hours requires a valid UCSF student ID card.

About the Hearst Room

Major funding for this space was provided by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation. Additional funds were contributed by Student Academic Affairs, the Chancellor’s Student Service Fee Advisory Committee, and donors to the UCSF Library Annual Fund.
