Some publishers are committed to publishing journals at fair prices. Many other publishers offer alternative publishing options such as
Open Access (OA) -- free access to entire journals or selected articles. Authors can maximize the reach and impact of their research, reduce
access barriers, and retain quality control of their scholarship by publishing in OA journals. Many
funding agencies pay the publication fees that open access journals charge. Several OA journals published by
BioMed Central and
PLoS are now among the most highly cited journals.
