Use Your Influence

-	Use your membership in scholarly associations to encourage reasonable publication pricing and to discourage alliances with publishers who charge exorbitant prices.
-	Use your position on editorial boards to influence publishers to promote reasonable pricing and open access.
-	See what UC faculty are doing to influence the scholarly communication market.

Tap into UC Resources

-	Take advantage of UC activities such as eScholarship publishing initiatives.
-	Investigate the benefits of UC's memberships with open access publishers such as BioMed Central and PLoS, and with fair-priced publishers such as BioOne, Cognet, and SPARC.
-	Invite the Library to speak to your department about these issues.
-	Support the Library by participating in library events and in publisher negotiations. Former events include a symposium (PDF) on open access journals.
