Wellcome Trust Mandates Open Access
Papers Resulting from Wellcome Funding Must Be Deposited in PubMed Central Repository |

The Wellcome Trust is the largest private funder of scientific research in the UK. Beginning October 1, 2005, all research papers resulting from Wellcome funding must be deposited in the PubMed Central open access repository within 6 months of publication.
This policy, unlike the policy of the NIH, makes deposit a requirement, not a request, and does not permit delays longer than 6 months. The Trust, working in partnership with other UK life sciences funders, plans to establish a UK version of PubMed Central -- UKPMC. [back to top] |
