Improving Comfort and Safety in the Library
New Conduct Policy, Other Measures |
||
|
[General]
In our continued efforts to make the Library a pleasant and safe place to study, we have revised our conduct policy to clarify what we expect from visitors to the Library. The policy lists specific behaviors that are unacceptable, such as bathing in the restrooms and repositioning furniture. The conduct policy is posted throughout the Parnassus Library building and is also available online. There is a link to it at the bottom of every GALEN page.
If you notice patrons behaving inappropriately, please alert staff at the Circulation Desk, and we will investigate and handle the incident. To deter homeless from camping out in the Library, we have moved the overstuffed leather chairs into visible areas where they cannot be pushed together to create beds. Signs reminding students to guard their valuables have also been distributed throughout the building. In addition, we have reset the temperature in the building to 72 degrees in both the seating and stacks areas. If you experience uncomfortable temperatures, please report it to staff along with your exact location. We continue to work to improve security and safety in the Library, but wanted to let you know about these initial steps. If you have questions or comments, please contact Gail Persily, Director of Education and Public Services. [back to top] |
