Library Renews BioMed Central Membership
As part of our ongoing efforts to support alternative methods of scholarly communication, the Library has renewed its membership with BioMed Central (BMC) for two years. BMC has modified its pricing model significantly in response to continued developments in the open access movement. Similar to our support of the Public Library of Science (PLoS), the UC Libraries decided to support BMC through a Supporter’s Membership. This level of membership entitles us to a 15% discount on BMC's non-open access titles as well as a 15% reduction in author processing fees for UC authors who publish in BMC journals.
UCSF faculty are the largest UC contributor to BMC journals, publishing 17 papers in a 12 month period. View a list of UCSF papers. In 2004, UC authors published 54 papers in BMC journals. For more information, consult Publish in Journals that Support Open Access on GALEN. [back to top] |
