Major Publishers Wiley and Blackwell to Merge
Continuing the trend toward consolidation in the scholarly publishing community, Wiley & Sons is on the brink of purchasing Blackwell Publishing for just over $1 billion. The purchase is expected to be completed by early 2007.
These publishers are of interest to UCSF because the UC Libraries have agreements with both publishers for large packages of online journals, including many journals in the health sciences. There will be no change in UCSF's access to Wiley or Blackwell journals in 2007 as a result of the merger. For 2007, both publishers will continue to maintain their current platforms for accessing the journals. The UC Libraries will be monitoring the merger closely in order to stay on top of any changes that may affect our access. Get more information. [back to top] |
