Compact Computers in ILCs

[General]
The Interactive Learning Centers (ILCs) have recently replaced nearly all the computers for student use. The Library partnered with the School of Medicine on this effort.
While studying, students concurrently use textbooks, handwritten notes, printed materials, and online content, requiring as much desktop space as possible. Student comments strongly influenced the choice to buy extremely compact computers and flat panel monitors. The ILCs have eliminated obsolete floppy and Zip drives and traditional Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) monitors. The new Dell desktop computers feature: - 2.0 GHz processors - 1.0 GB RAM - 17" monitors - sound and video with easily accessible ports - DVD burners - four USB ports, two on monitor and computer - Windows XP 64-bit operating system The new computers provide a more efficient and pleasant experience for students working in the ILCs.
