- Can I return books from the Library on Parnassus to the Library at Mission Bay?
Yes, books checked out from the Library on Parnassus can be returned to the Mission Bay Library.
- Can I have books which are located at Parnassus sent to me at Mission Bay?
Yes, personnel at Mission Bay may use Book Delivery service to have a book or bound journal sent from the Library on Parnassus to the Mission Bay Library.
- Can I have interlibrary loan book requests sent to the Mission Bay Library and pick them up there?
Personnel at Mission Bay can have their interlibrary loan requests sent to the Mission Bay Library. When a loaned item arrives at the Library on Parnassus, the requester receives an email indicating that the book has arrived. Respond to this email and inform the Library that you would like the book sent to the Mission Bay Library. Library staff will notify you once the book has arrived.
- Can I pay library fines in the Library at the Community Center for books from the Library on Parnassus?
The Mission Bay Library does not accept payments. All in-person payments must be made at the Parnassus Campus Library.
- When I taught classes on the Parnassus Campus, I had materials for my students placed on reserve in the Library. Can I place materials on reserve in the Mission Bay Library?
Yes, the Mission Bay Library can accommodate reserve materials. When considering materials for reserve, the Library encourages faculty to place the materials on electronic reserve, which makes the material more easily accessible to students. Putting materials on reserve.
- Can I print from the computers in the Mission Bay Library?
Yes, printing is available.
- Can I use my copy card?
Yes, the Library at the Community Center has a copier, as well as a copy card vending machine to buy new copy cards or add money to your existing copy card.
- What options are available for saving my work?
USB flash drives can be used on the computers in the Computer Lab & Classroom. You may also burn a CD. Also, the My Documents folder on the computer desktop is read/write enabled for temporarily saving files while you work.
- Can I connect my laptop to the Internet?
UCSF students and personnel can connect via wireless in the Mission Bay Library (CC150).
- Are loaner laptops and iPads available for checkout?
Technology lending is only available at the Parnassus Campus Library.
- Is there a computer classroom where I can teach classes?
Yes, the Mission Library features a Computer Lab & Classroom with Macintosh computers and an instructor's workstation. When it is not being used as a classroom, the lab is open for general computing to UCSF students, faculty, and staff.
- Does the Library teach PubMed, EndNote, and other classes on the Mission Bay campus?
The Library offers a selection of information retrieval and management classes for the Mission Bay community. See the class schedule for details.
- What if I need reference help from a librarian?
During most open hours at the Mission Bay Library, there are information assistants available to help you with light reference. More extensive reference service is available at Parnassus.
- Are there group study rooms on the Mission Bay campus?
There are no rooms available for group use. View a list of alternate study spaces on the Mission Bay and Parnassus campuses.
