The UCSF Library and Center for Knowledge Management seeks applications from qualified individuals for the position of Library Processing Assistant, classified as a Library Assistant III.
 
The Library Processing Assistant is primarily responsible for supporting the timely and accurate tracking standing order acquisitions, copy cataloging, and library database maintenance; the incumbent must have a general knowledge of standard library practices and procedures for technical services; verification and tracking standing orders requires coordination with the Manager of Collection Management, Serials/Electronic Resources Specialist, Cataloger, and Processing Supervisor; tasks are performed within the guidelines, practices, and procedures set by Collection Management; this position operates within a complex unit responsible for multiple library activities including collection development, acquisitions, serials processing, cataloging, and database maintenance; the incumbent must possess facility with standard library databases and tools and be able to assist with project work for the management of specific aspects of electronic resources, monograph and serials processing; perform other duties as assigned.
 
Required Qualifications
Experience in library technical services or other pertinent library work; ability to work well with others in a team environment; excellent communication skills with the ability to follow and give clear instructions, communicate tactfully, diplomatically and effectively with users, colleagues, and outside service providers; experience with MS Windows/Office esp. EXCEL and WORD; pull loaded library book truck; experience working with web-based systems and in an electronic environment; demonstrated Customer-Service focus and the ability to adapt and respond to the Library’s users’ needs; position requires intermittent bending, squatting, climbing stairs, pushing/pulling up to 25 pounds, reaching above shoulder level, sitting, standing, walking, carry/lifting up to 20 pounds, gripping/grasping, repetitive movements of upper extremities.
 
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with the INNOPAC ILS, specifically Millennium Serials and Millennium Acquisitions modules; experience with library materials ordering and receiving; experience with library journal processing; experience with vendor web-based utilities; experience with copy cataloging; experience with electronic resources.
 
Compensation
Classified as a Library Assistant III, $3,087 - $4,015 per month, full time rate. Starting salary usually in the lower end of the range depending on experience and qualifications. This is a career position with an excellent package of health, vacation, and retirement benefits.
