Students
Your SAA UserID and PIN are codes that uniquely identify you on campus. Issued by the Office of Admissions and Registrar (OAR), they are used to log on to OAR Online Services and your GALEN Account (see below).
Other UCSF Personnel
Your Employee ID number is a unique 9-digit number. You can find your Employee ID number on your pay statement or by contacting your department's payroll unit.

Remote Access to Library Resources and Databases
Library Borrower Account
Activate your Borrower Account with your UCSF ID card at the Service Desk, located near each library's main entrance.
In addition to checking out materials, the account allows you to use Interlibrary Borrowing to request journal articles and books that are not owned by the UCSF Library and Document Express, a fee-based document delivery service for journal articles owned by UCSF.
GALEN Account
GALEN Accounts are used for printing at Library computers. GALEN Accounts are created automatically for new students.
Students: Log on to your GALEN Account with your SAA UserID and PIN number.
Other UC Personnel: You must create a GALEN Account using your Employee ID number.
Computing Access
The Library has several computing spaces available to UCSF students and personnel.
Use your UCSF ID to unlock the computer lab doors when they are locked. Hold your ID card in front of the card reader adjacent to the entry. If you have been issued a new card because your UCSF ID was lost or stolen, only the new card will work with the card readers.
Please contact the UCSF Police for any ID card access related issues at 415-476-2088 or visit UCSF Police in person.
