2010 Database Cancellations
In order to meet the 7-10% reduction in the collection budget this year, the Library will be canceling databases for the first time in many years.
To identify databases for cancellation this year, we looked at databases that
- were not a key resource to the UCSF campus;
- had free alternatives available;
- had low usage over several years.
For 2010, the following 6 databases will be canceled. These 6 cancellations will allow us to save over $15,000, which will be used to offset the inflationary costs of the Library's remaining resources.
| Database | Reason |
|---|---|
| Associations Unlimited | Low use; not a key resource; free alternatives available |
| Current Protocols in Microbiology | Low use |
| eHRAF Collection of Ethnography (HRAF) | Low use; not a key resource |
| Encyclopedia Britannica Online | Low use; not a key resource; free alternatives available |
| Faculty of 1000 Medicine | Low use |
| Global Books in Print | Low use; not a key resource; free alternatives available |
