Specialized Consulting Services
Consulting
Consult with a Librarian
Reference services are available for complex research questions. Ask at the Service Desk in person or request a consultation. When possible, it is best to arrange a consultation after attending a library class.
UCSF faculty, staff, and students can arrange consultations for help with:
- search strategy for journal articles, chemical resources, and statistical resources
- database selection
- citation management tools such as EndNote and RefWorks
Faculty Liaison Program
The UCSF Library faculty liaison program provides researchers with one primary point of contact at the Library. Liaisons are available to recommend tools and services that enable more efficient and productive research. [more info]
Specialized Instruction
Education librarians teach custom classes on effective literature searching and using specific databases and tools. For example, special classes can be arranged for departmental in-service trainings or continuing education programs. Librarians also work with faculty to integrate informatics skills training into academic programs. Services include in-class instruction, curriculum development assistance, and support for research assignments. Contact an education librarian.
Archival and Historical Research
Archivists answer historical reference questions, identify relevant collections and materials for research access, and provide onsite assistance with special collections materials. [more info]
Learning Technologies
The Learning Technologies group supports the use of multimedia and other technologies in UCSF courses, through the Technology Commons and the UCSF Collaborative Learning Environment (CLE).
