Collaborate

Collaborate

Begin exploring how Web 2.0 technology can help facilitate working together with colleagues on and off campus.

Wiki@UCSF

A wiki is a web-based tool that allows for users to contribute content, upload files, share documents, link to other wiki pages, or link to websites outside of the wiki. You can request a wiki that is open to the Wiki@UCSF user community or to a private group of users.

RefShare

RefShare is an easy way to share references or bibliographies with colleagues or students. Share your whole database or just specific folders. All RefWorks users have access to RefShare.

Podcasting

Podcasting allows anyone you collaborate with to subscribe to a feed of the digital audio and video files that you create. The Learning Technologies group offers hardware and software to assist in the creation of podcasts. Learning Technologies also offers Podcasts@UCSF as a platform for hosting and distributing your files. For information on capturing events or classes that occur on the UCSF campus, Instructional Research and Technology Services offers professional-quality video recording and production on a fee basis.

Blogging

Blogging allows authors to quickly distribute their writing and to interact with their readers. Readers can view a blog on the web, or by subscribing to an RSS feed.

Collaborative Authoring

Collaborative authoring is increasingly popular at UCSF. These tools offer the ability to create, edit, and share documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and other types of files through your web browser. They allow people you share and collaborate with to always have the most up-to-date version of your files. These tools can also export into Microsoft Office or other formats.

  • Google Docs - share spreadsheets and other documents with Google
  • Wordpress - easy to use open-source publishing platform
  • Xythos - collaborative document management tool (fee-based)
  • Zoho - offers tools including chat, mail, projects and web conferencing
