DISCONTINUED

Details:

As of January 1, 2015, MD Consult has been discontinued by its producer, Elsevier, and is no longer available at UCSF or any of the University of California campuses.

MD Consult was a popular online resource containing the full text of medical books, journals, and review articles from the Clinics of North America series. Elsevier replaced MD Consult with a much broader and more expensive product, Clinical Key. This product would have cost UCSF almost double in 2015 and, given the Library's restrained budget, subscribing to Clinical Key was untenable and unsustainable.

To accommodate the loss of resources previously available through MD Consult, the Library is purchasing print copies of key texts. Elsevier does not sell online subscriptions for unlimited use to these books outside of Clinical Key. We will also pick up subscriptions to selected Clinics titles on Science Direct.

For alternative online books try UCSF's subscriptions with: AccessMedicine, AccessSurgery, Psychiatry Online, STAT!Ref, and Thieme E-Book Library. Individual ebooks can be found in the Library Catalog. See the Electronic Books at UCSF guide for more information. Patient education handouts are available via MedlinePlus and UpToDate.
