In February 2013, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) published a memo directing federal science agencies “to develop plans to make the published results of federally funded research freely available to the public within one year of publication."
On July 27, faculty from Stanford University will host an all-day forum to discuss responses and impending changes to this policy. The agenda includes presentations from scientific society and commercial publishers, university libraries, university researchers, open access advocates, companies involved in assembling large databases, and government agencies. The event organizers have extended a special invitation to faculty from UC San Francisco and UC Berkeley.
