Library Expands Ebook Collection

As the book industry becomes increasingly electronic, the UCSF Library continues to build its ebook collection. So far in 2011, the Library has added over 3,600 ebooks published by Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins (LWW), Springer, and Wiley to its collection. These collections encompass internal medicine, nursing, dentistry, behavioral science, biomedical and life sciences, and allied health, in addition to humanities, computing, and legal disciplines. Both Springer and Wiley provide downloadable PDF files at the chapter level, and LWW book content can be saved as text or HTML.

To locate an ebook, simply search the Library Catalog by title, keyword, or subject. You can also view a sample of titles added this year.

The Library continues to add ebook content both directly from the publishers and on platforms that aggregate content from multiple publishers. These additions complement our existing subscriptions to ebook resources such as AccessMedicine, MDConsult, STAT!Ref, and Thieme E-Book Library. In most cases, the Library will not purchase the print version of books to which we subscribe electronically.
