Fee Policy
POLICY The Library charges fees to non-University of California clientele for use of Archives and Special Collections. As described below, individuals engaged in academic research and collection donors are exempt from use fees.
All users, regardless of affiliation, must pay a per-copy charge to cover the costs of photocopies, photography, and scanning. Charges are less for current UCSF faculty, staff, and students.
A list of fees is provided for services offered.
Individuals in the following categories are exempt from fees for reading room use and research requests, when they are engaged in scholarly (non-commercial) research. They are not exempt from special service fees.
- Faculty at other universities and colleges
- Graduate students at academic institutions
- Members of professional historical academic associations
- Members of one of the official University of California Alumni Associations
Donors of collections placed in the UCSF Archives and Special Collections have access to their donated collection(s). Individuals in these categories must provide proof of their donor status, academic appointment, current student status, professional membership, or their alumni association card.
